Counselling

I wasn’t ready for counselling at first, but I’m glad I stuck around. I got there eventually.

Counselling Client

Every year, we support hundreds of local people to achieve their goals through counselling.

Our free 1-1 counselling service is available to anyone who is struggling with alcohol. There’s no need for a referral – just call or pop into our offices in Dumbarton and Clydebank to arrange an appointment.

Our team of counsellors can also provide support if you’re worried about a partner’s or family member’s drinking.

The aims of counselling are:

  • Help people to define their goals
  • Provide an insight into their problems
  • Develop problem solving skills
  • Support

Each individual who attends will complete at least one session with a counsellor and together they will agree what services DACA can offer to help them reach their goals. Counselling is also offered to family members to help them cope with someone else’s alcohol use.
Counsellors also help each individual to access the wide range of supporting services offered by DACA so that each support package is unique and right for that person.

DACA’s aim is to help people learn how to support themselves without the need for alcohol and to live a healthier, happier life. This is not only beneficial to themselves but also to family, friends, and the wider community.

What Our Clients Say

It took me a while to pluck up the courage to telephone DACA and make an appointment as I was so nervous. I used to phone and hang up until one day I decided to speak. With the help and support I received from my counsellor my drinking has reduced and I can cope better.

Female Counselling Client

I literally have a new lease of life after attending counselling. I don’t think I would’ve been able to be positive again if I hadn’t had someone to help me see a brighter future.
